Richard Riveire, AIA, NCARB

Founding Principal, Retired

Richard Riveire retired in 2023 after more than four decades of extraordinary leadership in the field of architecture and interior design. Over the course of his exceptional career, Richard redefined the trajectory of contemporary hospitality, residential, corporate, and maritime environments, leaving a lasting impression on each of these industries, the design profession and the many team members he led to deliver some of the most influential developments around the world.

Mr. Riveire began his career at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill before joining Keating Mann Jernigan Rottet as a Founding Principal in 1990. When the firm merged with Daniel, Mann, Johnson & Mendenhall (DMJM) in 1994, Richard headed the entire West Coast interiors practice of DMJM Rottet until co-founding Rottet Studio in 2008.

As Founding Principal, Richard was instrumental in building Rottet Studio into one of the most respected interior architecture firms in the world. He led the firm’s West Coast and Asia practices with a thirst for culture and innovation that led the firm into new practice areas focused on brand building. His unique approach to design was inspired by a deep understanding of the process of creating environments that visually reflect the culture and brand of the client; with a unique emphasis on bridging the gap between brand-in-concept and brand-in-life.

Over the course of his career, Richard was responsible for numerous high-profile projects. From the headquarters for Team Disney and United Talent Agency to two Presidential Bungalows at The Beverly Hills Hotel and more than 75 river and ocean ships for Viking Cruises, whose voyages stretch the furthest corners of the earth, it is without refute that Mr. Riveire has left a lasting impression on the world through his commitment to design excellence.

Richard’s career was been defined by vision, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in every aspect of design from beginning to end. He brought Rottet Studio an exceptional level of expertise for over 14 years with a unique flair and stewardship that will be dearly missed. We extend our deepest gratitude to Richard for his vision, leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to furthering the practice of design. His legacy lives on in the projects he helped realize, the firm he helped build, and the many colleagues whose careers he shaped along the way. We thank him sincerely for his contributions and wish him continued fulfillment in the many years ahead.
